At which store would you like to max out your credit card?
What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?
For the last few years, it was completing my MBA. That’s out of the way now, but I still love to devour books on business strategy and leadership. I also volunteer on the business development committee for Dress For Success Sydney.
What’s the strangest talent you have?
Pole Dancing – although I wouldn’t say I’m ‘talented’ at it yet! I train a few times a week, so I’m working at it!
I also used to be a DJ! I gave it all up when breakbeat and vinyl went out of fashion circa 2011, but I’ve recently started to get back into it.
What are three things still left on your bucket list?
1. Go to Sun and Bass, a week-long Drum and Bass music festival in Sardinia, Italy.
2. Learn another language.
3. Become a world-famous milliner.
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
To be able to hit ‘pause’ on time, so I could catch up on work / sleep / exercise / etc, before hitting ‘play’ again and continuing as normal.
Or… Just to be able to sleep soundly on a long haul flight (yes, that is totally a superpower)!
What was your first job and who did you work for?
Very first job – at age 13 – was working on a farm in Griffith NSW, stripping leaves off grape vines. We were paid $2 per row and after two solid days of work in the sweltering summer heat, I’d earned a ripe sum of $50…
My first official job – at 14yrs and 9mths – was working at Williams Shoes at Park Beach Plaza, Coffs Harbour. I felt so cool because I was working in ‘fashion’ while all my other friends worked at Maccas and Woolies!
Lastly… what do you like about working for Workible
My Grandfather always said to me “Leah, if you do a job that you love, you’ll never go to work a day in your life.” My family instilled an incredibly strong work ethic in me and my career path has become a very large part of my identity. Thus, I’ve always believed that gainful employment is the key to gaining a sense of independence, pride and prosperity in life. Workible is all about helping more people find work that they love and that’s something I’m super proud to support. I love coming into the office each day and knowing that I’m part of a purpose-driven team that is committed to changing the world for the better.
